Provided by Good Housekeeping UK Coca Cola unveils its Christmas advert, and it s directed by Oscar winner Taika Waititi. Find out more about the Christmas advert here.
Coca-Cola has released its Christmas advert – and after the disappointing news their Christmas truck tour is cancelled, this definitely makes up for it…
The advert is directed by Oscar winner Taika Waititi, who also directed Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok and The Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Titled The Letter, the stylish and emotional ad begins with a father getting ready to go to work, and his daughter gives him a note to post to Father Christmas.
But, when he gets to work, he realises he’s forgotten to send the letter – and so begins a mission over land, over sea, through impossibly deep snow and up sheer rock faces.
He goes to great lengths to get to the North Pole, and when he makes it, he meets Santa in his giant Coca-Cola truck who needs a sleigh anyway?. Santa gives him a lift home, and hands back the letter. The dad is confused, but seemingly not fussed at all that he’s trekked the world just to have the letter handed back to him.
But there’s method to the madness – his daughter just wanted him back home! And there he is! It’s a touching, heartwarming watch.
Coca-Cola explains: This Christmas, give something only you can give. Be it in person, over an awkward video call, or just a quick message, making time for the ones you love is what makes Christmas truly the most special time of year, no matter how you do it. Wherever you are, we hope you have a good one. Merry Christmas.
Santa may be driving his lorry around the North Pole and further afield, but due to Coronavirus restrictions, the annual Coca-Cola truck tour has been cancelled for the first time ever.
The brand said in a tweet: “Due to current restrictions around the country, our Coca-Cola Christmas Truck Tour won’t go ahead this year. We know it’s disappointing, but we’ll continue to share special Christmas moments throughout the festive season. We look forward to seeing you next year.”
